Welcome to

St Matthew's Church,

Blackmoor and Whitehill

“God is light; in him there is no darkness...”

1 John 1:5

The church reopened at Easter, and we are back to running our weekly services on a Sunday as well as a quiet Eucharist on Wednesday evenings.  Junior Church has also reopened and will be running the first three Sunday's of every month.

We are stillto. adhering strictly to Government policies for stopping the spread of the virus, and therefore masks need to be worn in Church, you are required to use hand gel before entering and to sign in for track and trace purposes. Seating is socially distanced, using every other pew, and although we are allowed four choir members singing, sadly our congregation are not allowed

If anyone requires prayer or a chat do not hesitate to contact Rev'd Alice on 01420 472656.

Welcome to the website for St Matthew’s Church.

You will find our stunning church building in the quaint village of Blackmoor. It was designed by the Victorian Architect Alfred Waterhouse in the Victorian Gothic Style, and we are very proud of it. This majestic church is situated within the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding beauty. The church is open every day for visitors and is an oasis of quiet and calm in a busy world.

St Matthew’s is a holy place serving not just the people of Blackmoor but also those who live in Whitehill. But it is not just a building but a place where people of all ages come to worship and learn more about Jesus Christ. The people of St Matthew’s are inclusive, friendly and welcoming to others of all ages and backgrounds. We have a thriving Junior Church and children are valued as members of our community.

We strive to provide an eclectic mix of service style so there is something for everyone. Our main service is 10am on Sunday mornings with plenty of other activities and services for people to enjoy, details of which you will find on this website. You can find all our services and events in the calendar, and more about our other activities on the 'about us' page.

Please come and meet us.
