Julian Meetings are groups of people who meet regularly in order to grow in the practice of contemplative prayer in the Christian tradition.
Julian Meetings welcome people of all denominations, or none.
There is no set pattern. It is a time to wait on God in Silence.
A meeting can be a few (5 or 6), or more (up to 12 or 14), of various denominations, both lay people and clergy. They meet regularly in a house, church or chapel. There is a brief reading, leading into about 30 minutes silent contemplative prayer, usually ending with a short prayer. This may be followed by a time for tea or coffee and discussion.
The movement was named after Julian of Norwich, a fourteenth century mystic.
A new group has recently been formed in Blackmoor and Whitehill and meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 10am.
